NChat notifications now say who sent the message

Notifications that say who sent it πŸ””

Anyone who supports guests all day gets dozens of alerts. Until now, the NChat notification showed only the conversation number, something like "new message in conversation #42". To know whether it was today's check-in guest, a coworker or the bot, you had to open the conversation. And the alert went out in English, even with the account in Portuguese. Now it says who wrote, shows the beginning of the message and goes out in the account's language.

What changed

  • Who sent it: the alert shows the name of the contact, the agent or the bot. New conversation, assignment and mention each have their own wording.
  • Message snippet: in the browser, the notification also shows the beginning of the message. The notification list in the app now shows the snippet too.
  • In the account's language: the alert goes out in Portuguese, English or Spanish.
  • Contact without a name: the phone number is shown. Without a phone number, "Contact" is shown.

How it works in practice

The agent has NChat open in another tab while checking the cleaning schedule. An alert arrives with the guest's name and the beginning of the message: she knows right away whether it is a question about the door code, which cannot wait, or a "thank you" that can wait until later. If a coworker assigns a conversation to her or mentions her, the alert says so with its own wording, with no confusion with a guest message.

Good to know

  • The message snippet is short, about 10 words.
  • No app update is needed.

Available in NChat V4. V4 is activated by the implementation team: request yours through NDesk.
